September 2019

Amadeus Choir Community,

We trust that by now you are all aware that Lydia Adams, our long time Artistic Director, decided to step down at the end of the 2018/19 season – her 35th year with the choir, and our 45th Amadeus season.

We are truly grateful to Lydia for the vision and passion she brought to our community over such a long period of time. We know that you will join us in wishing her every success as she moves on to pursue other creative projects, including her continued position as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Elmer Iseler Singers. We invite you to view the photo gallery from the celebration of Lydia and her inspired artistic leadership, held last June, highlighting her wonderful and unforgettable career with the Amadeus Choir.

We thank all those who were amongst the record crowd who attended Lydia’s final performance as Artistic Director of the choir last spring of the timeless masterpiece, the Bach B Minor Mass, featuring The Elmer Iseler Singers, guest soloists and orchestra, and trust that you this experience was as magical for you as it was for everyone on stage! Choir members look forward to joining the EIS under Lydia’s direction in December for yet another joint performance of Handel’s time-honoured Messiah.

We hope that, given Lydia’s vision and legacy, you will join us as we look forward to the next chapter in the life of this vibrant musical community with our newly hired Artistic Conductor, Kathleen Allan, whom we know is dedicated to maintaining the calibre of work the Amadeus Choir has always strived to achieve.

Yours sincerely,

Amadeus Choir Board
